We have been celebrating world music day. The explorers have been exploring different instruments during the day playing the drum, xylophone, shakers and tambourines. The babies used their gross motor skills to move the instruments in different ways some of the babies held the shakers in their hands and shook them. A couple of the babies used their hands to play the drum banging on drum. A practitioner named all the different instruments and demonstrated the different ways to play the instruments.
On world music day the explorers joined in an activity of an edible guitar we used whipped cream, raspberries, strawberries and rice crispies. The explorers used their senses to explore sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing. The explorers used the spoons to crush the rice Krispies, their hands to explore the different textures, their sight to look at the different food items, their taste to taste the different food items and their smell to smell the different fruits. We used different home languages for the word guitar – French, Greek, Turkish, Gujarati, Italian and English!
