Our little Inventors have been getting very experimental with volcanoes
We had a blast exploring how volcanoes work and what makes them erupt. We learnt all about how the magma rises to the surface and if the gas bubbles have too much pressure, it can lead to an explosive eruption. Which is what we have been demonstrating in preschool!
Why not try this at home?
Make a simple (or very creative) volcano. This can be made out of paper, paper mache, plaster, clay or sand!
Method 1:
You will need: baking soda, vinegar and food colouring (optional)
Add some baking soda and food colouring inside your volcano. When you’re ready, add lots of vinegar to create the acid reaction. Watch your volcano erupt!
Method 2:
You will need: Mentos candy and Coca Cola (bottle depending on size of volcano model)
Add the cola bottle into the middle of your volcano model. (Try not to open the bottle until you’re ready to put your mentos in) Take 3 mentos out of your packet and break them slightly. Add the mentos into the cola bottle and watch your volcano explode!
We hope you have a blast trying this simple and very fun activity, we certainly had lots of fun!!!
Well Done Preschool!
