At Monkey Puzzle Enfield, we truly believe that children do best when parents and nursery staff work closely together. Building strong, trusting relationships with families is at the heart of everything we do, as these partnerships play a huge role in supporting each child’s learning, wellbeing, and development.
We see parents as their child’s first educators, and we value the knowledge and insight they bring. By sharing information and working together, we can provide consistent care and support both at home and in the nursery.
We love welcoming parents into the nursery and creating opportunities for them to be involved in their child’s experiences. Parents are invited to join us for open days and special celebrations throughout the year, such as Easter, Christmas, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Daya (and many more!) These events help children feel proud, confident, and supported when they see their families taking part in nursery life.
Storytelling is another important part of our approach. Parents are welcome to come in and read stories with the children, and once a month we record bedtime stories to share with families. This encourages a love of reading and helps create special moments at home that support children’s language development.
We believe listening is just as important as sharing. We regularly ask for parent feedback and take time as a team to reflect on our practice, using families’ views to help us grow and improve. In addition, we hold parent meetings once a term to talk about each child’s progress and discuss how we can support them as they continue to develop.
To keep parents connected to their child’s day, we use the Famly app to share regular updates. This includes information about meals, sleep, toileting, photos of daily activities, observations, and progress reports, helping parents feel informed and involved every step of the way.
By working together in partnership, we create a warm, supportive environment where children feel secure, valued, and ready to learn.
